About the role
NTU International is seeking a Non-Key Expert to provide technical assistance on trade development, investment climate and private‑sector reforms for an EU‑funded programme covering Papua New Guinea and other Pacific Island countries. The assignment starts on 1 February 2027 and runs for 36 months.
Key responsibilities
- Support the EU Delegation in programming, implementing, monitoring and evaluating trade‑related development operations.
- Conduct trade policy analysis, market access studies and value‑chain assessments.
- Draft high‑quality reports, policy briefs and stakeholder communication materials.
- Facilitate public‑private dialogue, capacity‑building workshops and institutional strengthening activities.
- Coordinate with partner‑country institutions, regional bodies and other stakeholders, including travel to remote locations as required.
Required profile
- University degree (preferably postgraduate) in economics, international trade, development studies or a related field.
- Minimum six years of professional experience in developing‑country contexts, focusing on trade, investment climate or private‑sector development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trade facilitation, business‑environment reforms and regional economic integration, preferably in the Pacific region.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel internationally and locally, including to remote areas.
Required skills
- Excellent written and oral communication, with proven ability to produce high‑quality analytical documents.
- Strong knowledge of trade policy, investment climate and private‑sector development frameworks.
- Experience in programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of trade‑related projects.
