Education Officer – Temporary (364 days) – Mount Hagen

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Education Officer for a 364‑day temporary contract at its Mount Hagen Field Office in Papua New Guinea. The role supports the delivery of quality education programmes that advance children’s rights and learning outcomes in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development, planning and strategic design.
• Manage programme implementation, monitor progress and ensure delivery of results.
• Provide technical and operational assistance to field teams.
• Build and maintain networks and partnerships with government, NGOs and donors.
• Drive innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Education, Psychology, Sociology, International Development, Public Policy or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in education programme management, monitoring & evaluation, partnership or stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to research, collect, analyse and present technical programme information.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or a local language is an asset.
• Experience in developing‑country, fragile or humanitarian settings is desirable.
