Senior Civil & Structural Engineer – Engineering Projects

About the role

The Senior Civil & Structural Engineer will provide technical leadership for the design, review and delivery of civil and structural solutions across capital projects at New Porgera Limited. Reporting to the Superintendent – Engineering Projects, the role ensures safe, efficient and on‑budget project execution while mentoring junior engineers and managing external consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and review civil and structural engineering designs, drawings and specifications.
• Prepare technical documents, including reports, calculations and drawings.
• Provide package engineering and procurement support.
• Supply engineering input to design deliverables and perform engineering checks.
• Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Manage contractors, consultants and stakeholders to ensure compliance, quality delivery and adherence to schedule and contractual obligations.
• Offer technical support throughout all project phases.
• Communicate effectively with contractors and project parties.
• Prepare budget plans for Approval for Expenditure (AFE) and monitor project spending.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans.
• Mentor and manage junior engineers.
• Maintain high health and safety standards in line with NPL policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in civil and structural design engineering.
• Strong experience in concrete and steel structure design.
• Proficiency with SpaceGass, STAAD.Pro and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of AS/NZS and PNG design standards (e.g., AS/NZS 4671, AS2870, AS3600, AS/NZS 1170.0‑1170.4, PNGS 1001‑1982).
