Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will support the finance function by overseeing key accounting processes, ensuring compliance, and providing leadership to junior staff. This role is central to the PNG finance team and works closely with auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Review intercompany and client billing.
• Maintain the petty cash fund and ensure it is adequately funded.
• Review accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll entries.
• Submit and monitor TCC applications to the Tax Office.
• Assist in the preparation of cash flow forecasts and projections.
• Perform daily/monthly accounting operations from journal entries to month‑end closing.
• Review journal entries prepared by junior staff.
• Analyze and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, including cash, AR, and AP.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial statements.
• Serve as the go‑to person for the PNG finance team and lead junior staff.
• Coordinate with external auditors, banks, and IRC when finance presence is needed.
• Prepare tax returns and ensure timely lodgment.
• Support external and internal audits and IPA compliance.

Required profile

• Senior‑level accountant with several years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor junior finance staff.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Experience coordinating with auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Familiarity with PNG tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently and support cross‑functional finance activities.
