Traffic Engineer

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to support the planning, design, and implementation of major highway, bridge and road infrastructure projects. You will conduct traffic studies, forecast demand, evaluate networks and develop management strategies to ensure safe and efficient movement of people and goods.

Key responsibilities

• Provide traffic engineering input during feasibility studies, preliminary design and detailed engineering design.
• Support the development of road signage, pavement markings and wayfinding systems.
• Prepare traffic demand forecasts using established transport planning methodologies.
• Develop future‑year traffic projections considering population growth, economic development and land‑use changes.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors and asset operators.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic growth analysis, modelling and intelligent transportation systems, preferably on MDB‑funded projects.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
