Grants Manager – Resource Mobilization for Cancer Initiative

About the role

Under the direction of the Cancer Initiative Coordinator, the Grants Manager will lead resource mobilisation for the Morobe Cancer Initiative in Lae, PNG. The role covers the full grant cycle – from donor research and proposal development to grant administration and reporting – and aims to build sustainable funding relationships with institutional donors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct continuous donor mapping and analysis, maintaining an up‑to‑date intelligence database aligned with the initiative’s priorities.
• Translate technical priorities into competitive proposals, concept notes, logical frameworks and budgets, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
• Develop and standardise narrative and financial reporting tools, manage donor reporting deadlines and maintain complete grant documentation.
• Own operational donor relationships, prepare briefing materials for senior engagement and coordinate donor visits and field trips.
• Support national grant‑holding institutions (MoPHA, Cancer Relief Society) to strengthen their financial and administrative capacity and gradually transfer responsibilities to local staff.

Required profile

• University degree in international development, public health, public administration, business administration, communications or a related field.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in grant development or resource mobilisation.
• Proven experience preparing proposals, logical frameworks, budgets and reports for institutional or government donors.
• Experience working with donors such as KOICA, JICA, EU, DFAT, foundations or UN agencies is highly desirable.
• Background in the health sector or health‑system strengthening is an advantage.
