Infield Mentor – Missionary Training

About the role

The Infield Mentor supports missionaries in Papua New Guinea by delivering curriculum‑based instruction, coaching, and feedback. Working remotely, the mentor collaborates with fellow teachers to ensure missionaries are prepared for their service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one coaching, small‑group facilitation, and large‑group workshops.
• Monitor Canvas participation and discussion boards.
• Plan and prepare lessons following the approved curriculum, often with a companion teacher.
• Implement guidance from Teacher Trainers, Managers of Training, and Senior Managers.
• Attend weekly training meetings and co‑teacher sessions.
• Assist area leadership in coordinating with mission and Missionary Department leadership.
• Coach missionaries during practice and live lessons.
• Assess language proficiency of missionaries and teacher applicants when required.
• Role‑play as a non‑member and support temporary duties at the Missionary Training Center.

Required profile

• Returned missionary, no more than three years since service.
• Fluency in the specified second language (for language‑teaching positions).
• Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and training abilities.
• Strong knowledge of the Preach My Gospel curriculum.
• Excellent interpersonal, prioritization, professionalism, and leadership skills.
• Self‑motivated, receptive to feedback, and able to work well with others.
• Understanding of effective language‑learning strategies (for language‑teaching positions).

Required skills

• Fluency in a second language (as required).
• Proficiency with Canvas learning platform.
• Knowledge of Preach My Gospel teaching methodology.
