Business Development Manager – Marine & Protective Coatings

About the role

The Business Development Manager will drive sales of AkzoNobel's International brand of Marine & Protective Coatings across Papua New Guinea, meeting revenue, margin and project win targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new client relationships and manage existing accounts within the complex contract chain (asset owners, fabricators, contractors, distributors, consultants, architects).
• Secure specification positions on targeted projects and provide technical advice to match specifications to end‑use conditions.
• Support regional business in South Asia and provide market intelligence, resources and marketing input for the PNG market.
• Maintain accurate information on sales opportunities using the Gaudi CRM system and ensure timely response to concurrent project demands.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the coatings industry with a proven record of relationship‑based selling.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to network across the industry.
• Understanding of contract chains in marine and protective coating segments and ability to handle commercial confidentiality.

Required skills

• High level of computer literacy and proficiency with sales and specification software tools.
• Professional presentation skills and attention to detail in specification documentation.
