Finance and Payroll Coordinator

About the role

The Finance & Payroll Coordinator is responsible for coordinating daily payroll and financial administration functions for ChildFund Papua New Guinea. The role ensures accurate, timely payroll processing, financial transactions, and compliance with organisational policies, donor requirements and PNG legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly payroll, review inputs, and ensure accurate staff payments and statutory deductions.
• Process and review financial transactions, maintain records, and support accounts payable/receivable.
• Prepare financial reconciliations, support month‑end and year‑end close, and monitor project expenditures.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, donor reporting, and budget variance analysis.
• Maintain strong internal controls, segregation of duties, and documentation for audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in payroll and financial administration, preferably within an international NGO.
• Good understanding of financial controls, accounting principles and PNG payroll, taxation requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Sage or similar accounting software.
• Familiarity with accounting and payroll systems.
