About the role
The Fleet & Workshop Manager will lead a national fleet team, overseeing a large and diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, forklifts and mobile equipment across multiple sites in Papua New Guinea. Reporting to a senior executive, you will ensure maximum availability, reliability, safety and cost efficiency while supporting business continuity.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop a national fleet team across multiple locations.
- Design and implement preventative maintenance programmes to maximise fleet uptime.
- Oversee lifecycle management of heavy vehicles, forklifts, mobile equipment and other assets.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, licensing, insurance and safety requirements.
- Manage external service providers and maintenance contractors to agreed performance standards.
- Monitor fleet utilisation, maintenance costs, fuel consumption and operational KPIs.
- Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and optimise operating costs.
- Investigate fleet incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Develop driver compliance programmes, transport scheduling and fleet governance processes.
- Provide leadership during critical fleet incidents to maintain operational continuity.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing large commercial or industrial fleets.
- Trade qualification in Automotive, Diesel Mechanics, Auto Electrical or a related discipline (highly regarded).
- Strong leadership experience managing maintenance teams and contractors.
- Solid understanding of workplace health and safety and regulatory compliance.
- Experience managing budgets, analysing fleet performance and driving operational efficiencies.
