Head of Operations – Papua New Guinea

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Operations, Pacific, you will lead the end‑to‑end operations function in Papua New Guinea, accountable for performance, service delivery, risk, control effectiveness and workforce capability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead banking operations across PNG, setting clear expectations for performance, productivity and service standards.
• Drive service excellence by achieving agreed service levels, removing process bottlenecks and improving customer experiences.
• Embed strong operational risk and control practices, ensure regulatory compliance and support audits and regulatory reviews.
• Deliver transformation initiatives including automation, simplification and standardisation of Pacific Operations processes.
• Build strong stakeholder partnerships and develop a high‑performing Operations team with a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading banking or financial services operations.
• Strong understanding of operational risk, controls, regulatory obligations and service delivery.
• Proven record of delivering operational transformation, process improvement and efficiency outcomes.
• Experience leading large teams and driving performance through leaders.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with executives, regulators and auditors.
• Ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrix environment.
• Desirable: experience working in Papua New Guinea and a relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.
