In-Field Mentor – Missionary Training (Papua New Guinea)

About the role

The In-Field Mentor supports missionaries in Papua New Guinea by delivering training that helps them share the restored gospel. This entry‑level position works within the Church’s Training department and may involve remote instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one coaching, small‑group facilitation, and large‑group workshops for missionaries.
• Monitor Canvas participation and discussion boards.
• Plan and prepare lessons using the approved curriculum, often with a companion teacher.
• Implement guidance from Teacher Trainers, Managers of Training, and Senior Managers of Training.
• Attend weekly training meetings and co‑teacher sessions.
• Assist area and mission leadership with coordination and reporting.
• Coach missionaries during practice and live lessons.
• Assess language proficiency of missionaries and teacher applicants when needed.
• Role‑play as a non‑member for training scenarios and support temporary duties at the Missionary Training Center.

Required profile

• Returned missionary who served no more than three years ago.
• Fluency in the specified second language (for language‑teaching positions).
• Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and training abilities.
• Strong knowledge of the “Preach My Gospel” curriculum.
• Excellent interpersonal, prioritization, professionalism, and leadership skills.
• Self‑motivated, collaborative, and open to feedback.
• Understanding of effective language‑learning strategies (for language‑teaching positions).
