SME Business Banking Manager

About the role

The SME Business Banking Manager will lead a dynamic team of advisors and associates in Port Moresby, driving credit quality, risk management, and growth of the SME portfolio. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape product development, marketing initiatives, and strategic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare high‑quality credit submissions and manage credit exposure in line with the bank’s risk appetite.
• Lead, coach, and develop the SME banking team, fostering professional growth and performance excellence.
• Evaluate credit data and financial statements to assess lending risks and support loan structuring.
• Partner with the General Manager of SME & Specialised Lending on product innovation and market strategy.
• Monitor balance‑sheet exposure, ensure compliance with reporting standards, and drive continuous improvement in sales and servicing systems.
• Deliver excellent customer service by meeting lending requirements promptly and collaborating with partner teams.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in business, finance or a related discipline (preferred).
• More than 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with strong credit writing and relationship‑building expertise.
• Proven leadership experience in building high‑performing teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Deep understanding of the PNG banking environment and global factors affecting the market.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Competence with Microsoft Outlook.
