Advanced Paramedic - PNG Deployment

About the role

St John Ambulance PNG is recruiting experienced Advanced Paramedics to support Australian personnel deployed to Papua New Guinea while helping develop local ambulance services. The role delivers advanced pre-hospital care in remote, resource-limited settings and involves mentoring local teams. It is a fixed-term position from 3 October 2026 to April 2027, with relocation and possible extension.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver advanced pre-hospital care in remote and operational environments
• Provide medical support to Australian personnel deployed in PNG
• Work with local ambulance officers and healthcare teams
• Support clinical leadership, mentorship and capacity-building
• Operate independently in a 24/7 on-call environment, possibly in Lae, Kokopo, Mt Hagen or Port Moresby

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Paramedic
• At least three years of post-graduate experience as a qualified paramedic with a CAA-registered service in the last five years
• Ability to work autonomously in complex environments
• Willingness to commit to a minimum deployment until April 2027, with possible extension
• Adaptable, resilient and comfortable on call in remote settings
