Paramedic - PNG (3-Month Contract)

About the role

St John Ambulance PNG is recruiting an experienced, adaptable Paramedic for a 3-month contract starting 4 January 2027 and ending around 4 April 2027. The role supports Australian personnel deployed to Papua New Guinea, delivering advanced pre-hospital care in remote and resource-limited settings alongside local ambulance officers and clinicians. It is a 24/7 on-call position with possible deployments to Lae, Kokopo, Mt Hagen and Port Moresby, and is managed by PartnerUP Talent on behalf of St John Ambulance PNG.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver advanced pre-hospital care in remote and operational environments
• Provide medical support to Australian personnel deployed in PNG
• Work collaboratively with local ambulance officers and healthcare teams
• Support clinical leadership, mentorship and capacity-building initiatives
• Operate independently in a challenging international setting

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Paramedic
• At least 3 years' experience with a CAA-registered service within the last 5 years
• Ability to work autonomously in complex environments
• Clinically confident, adaptable and resilient in remote or resource-limited settings
• Professional, culturally respectful, team-oriented and interested in mentoring local staff
• Comfortable working on-call in challenging environments
• Experience in hazardous area response, tactical response (SERT in New Zealand) or clinical education and training is highly regarded
