Aviation Operator - Airport Refuelling

About the role

Puma Energy is hiring an Aviation Operator in Kiunga to run the day-to-day operations of its fuel storage facility and in-plane refuelling activities. The operator handles fuel receiving, storage and handling, loading refuelling vehicles and refuelling aircraft, using sophisticated mobile and fixed equipment. The operator is the first point of contact for customers and airport authorities and takes on the supervisor's duties when the Duty Supervisor is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out all day-to-day tasks safely, effectively and efficiently, in line with the site operating standards and the Puma Rules for Operators.
• Perform quality assurance tasks: check incoming consignment documents, inspect incoming material and vehicle seals, discharge into storage, release product to fuelers and hydrants, sample aviation products and maintain stock, quality and equipment records.
• Complete documentation for operational, maintenance and stock control tasks, sales delivery tickets, incident reports and defect reports.
• Handle card and cash transactions and capture sales transactions, mostly on a computer.
• Present Puma Energy professionally to customers and staff.
• Report all unsafe acts, conditions and near misses to the supervisor, and follow HSEQ policies and reporting procedures.
• Under the direction of the Depot Manager or Duty Supervisor, carry out equipment maintenance, cleaning of fixed and mobile equipment and general housekeeping.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent from a recognised institution.
• Heavy duty licence for the vehicles to be driven.
• HSE-mindset and ability to work safely; training of at least 6 months is provided before certification as competent.
• Work experience in a technical field including airport work is an added advantage.
• Local language and good English communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, safety standards, operating procedures and regulations is an advantage.
• Aircraft refuelling skills are not assumed; candidates are trained for a minimum of 6 months before becoming competent.
• Ability to work under pressure and follow directions.
