Project Accountant

About the role

Trevi Group is looking for an experienced Project Accountant to support the delivery of major geotechnical and construction works on the Lihir Project in Papua New Guinea. The role involves tracking, recording, monitoring and analysing site financial activities, costs, billings and overall project performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor project expenses, code field invoices and update cost reports to compare actual spending against the estimated budget.
• Review subcontractors' pay applications, track retainage, verify lien waivers and coordinate prompt payments.
• Assist the Project Manager with data for client progress billings, monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up delayed payments.
• Review onsite timecards, equipment logs and petty‑cash reports to ensure accurate labour hour and resource allocation.
• Prepare monthly cost‑to‑complete analyses, work‑in‑progress inputs and variance reports for Project Managers.
• Maintain organized paper and digital audit trails onsite, ensuring compliance with local tax rules, insurance certificates and internal controls.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2 to 5 years of general or project accounting experience, preferably in construction, mining or engineering.
• Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with onsite project managers, field superintendents, subcontractors and corporate finance teams.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and maintain high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with ERP accounting software.
